Dear Friends of Children's Shelter of Hope Foundation and Canadian Children's Shelter of Hope Foundation:
Please let us share with you a couple of brief snippets:
  Angel is now 4 years old and has lived at Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza since he was very young. He is energetic, talkative, and loves looking at books. Angel starts his day each morning by getting up with the help of the morning toddler nanny, having breakfast with the other 13 toddlers at 7:30 A.M, and then taking a bath before getting dressed. He spends most of the morning outside on the playground coloring or reading books with volunteers, or playing with other children and the nanny. Soon he will be able to enjoy special activities in the new toddler "stimulation center" as well. Lunch, the big meal of the day, is served by the cook to Angel's group at 12:30. He then changes into his school uniform and is taken to his "kinder" school in the new Refugio van for two hours of fun. He returns to have a light dinner at 5:30, followed by another bath, a prayer session with Madre Chuy, and then off to bed under the supervision of the afternoon/evening nanny by 7:30 P.M. Behind this scene, at least ten different staff members at the Refugio help each day to make Angel's day successful and happy. The total monthly cost to provide for Angel's care is approximately $4000 pesos - $300 US or $375 Canadian.
 

Sara, a 10 year old at Pasitos de Luz, has Down syndrome and mental deficiencies. She lives with her mother in a very humble home in the Pitillal area, and loves to sing and dance. She attends Pasitos most days, arriving in the morning at 8:30 in time for breakfast, a bath and change into her special Pasitos sweats. She then is ready to participate in activities with the other special children at Pasitos. Sara receives physical therapy daily and also works in a classroom with an educational specialist. Occasionally Sara has the opportunity to work one-on-one with the art specialist as well. Her day at Pasitos is filled with music, laughter, and love. She is now able to feed herself, and has a nutritious breakfast, lunch and also a snack before leaving for home in the afternoon at 5 P.M. Approximately sixteen different staff members at Pasitos help to brighten Sarah's world each day. The total monthly cost to provide for Sara's care for 5 days each week is approximately $3000 pesos - $225 US or $285 Canadian.

With this letter, we would like to announce the launching of a new opportunity for you as supporters of these and other wonderful children at these two amazing centers - One Child for One Year. The concept is simple ’Äì we are looking for donors willing to commit to paying for the monthly basic expenses and support of individual children for a year. For your sponsorship you will receive a special card with photos and specific information about the child you have selected or been assigned, followed by personalized updates at least three other times during the year. Partial sponsorships are also available for a six month period of time for half of the monthly cost.
